Houston Independent School District issued the following announcement on June 1.
The winners of the HISD and myON Reader by Renaissance Reading Initiative’s second annual Read to Succeed Competition have been announced.
The competition is hosted in partnership with myOn, an online literacy platform, and encourages pre-kindergarten through fifth-grade students to compete against each other to see who read myON books for the most number of minutes.
This year’s seven student winners read a combined total of more than 150,000 minutes. HISD Library Services is honoring 3 types of winners this year:

The Read to Succeed Competition started in 2018 and was created to motivate and reward students for reading. Due to the COVID19 shutdown, this year’s winners were surprised outside of their schools with a yard sign and a goodie basket.
