A new program using CARES Act funds has opened in Fort Bend County to help business owners by providing grants between $5,000 and $25,000.

Grant News reported minority-owned small businesses and businesses with disadvantages will be the focus of this program, but all small businesses can receive help.

The program will help the county expand its services to small businesses, with $22 million already having been put back into helping small businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic, Grant News reported. The new program offers consulting services and grants that will also help businesses in the county adapt and flourish under current circumstances.

The program offers several other services, including, business coaching from trained business coaches, resilience courses each month, a coronavirus recovery plan customized for each business and strategy meetings.

The program is open to small businesses with 20 or fewer employees that have also experienced at least a 25% loss, Grant News reported. The program has already assisted 2,000 small businesses and is accepting applications from more.
