The Missouri City City Council has launched a Rental, Mortgage & Utility Assistance Program to provide relief to residents who have been adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the City, the program was launched on Sept. 28 to help residents by paying their rent or mortgage and utility payments from October through December, or until the allocated $500,000 funding is exhausted. Qualifying households may be eligible for a payment up to $2,000 per month for rent or mortgage and a payment up to $500 per month for utilities.

Payments will not be made directly to the residents. Landlords and mortgage companies are required to do a separate enrollment application to be able to receive direct rent or mortgage payment for their eligible and approved COVID-19 impacted tenants or homeowners.

Interested citizens can receive more information about the program or eligibility requirements by visiting the city's website or by calling 281-403-8690 Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 pm.
