HCSS, a Sugar Land-based company specializing in software for the construction industry, recently donated $2 million to the University of Houston College of Technology.

The funding will be used for a scholarship endowment and infrastructure at the university’s Sugar Land campus, according to a press release. The donation comes as a memoriam for Sophie Rydin, the wife of HCSS CEO Mike Rydin.

“By all accounts, Dr. Rydin was a passionate and influential educator who touched the lives of many,” Eloise Brice, vice president for university advancement, said. “These endowments and support for the College of Technology will extend her wonderful legacy while inspiring and supporting so many of our students to achieve their academic potential.”

The scholarship portion of the donation comes to $400,000, and will provide scholarships for students at the College of Nursing and the C. T. Bauer College of Business. Another $600,000 will support students in Computer Information Systems, Construction Management, Digital Media, and Technology Leadership and Innovation Management.
