Rep. Troy Nehls (R-TX) has expressed his criticism towards Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas for the closure of international railway crossings in Texas due to the border invasion. Nehls sent a letter to Mayorkas, accusing the Biden Administration of failing to understand how the border operates and blaming their neglect for the closures by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) at the crossings in Eagle Pass and El Paso.

According to Nehls, illegal aliens are not using the rail crossings significantly to enter the United States. Instead, they often hitch rides to cross the Mexican landscape but disembark from the trains before entering the United States on foot. Nehls believes that the Biden Administration's failure to secure the nation's borders has resulted in a national security and humanitarian crisis.

In an interview with Breitbart News, Nehls stated, "The Biden Administration’s sheer neglect to secure our nation’s borders has resulted in not only a national security crisis, but a humanitarian crisis." He further added, "The consequences of the Biden Administration’s actions, or lack thereof, will be felt around the country."

The closure of the rail crossings has had significant impacts on trade and the economy. Union Pacific and BNSF have been forced to halt their operations in Eagle Pass and El Paso. This is the second time in four months that the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (USCBP) has suspended rail operations at critical U.S.-Mexico international railway crossings. Nehls warns that these closures will prevent legitimate trade, contribute to inflation, and cripple the nation's agricultural producers.

Nehls had previously sent a letter to Acting CBP Commissioner Troy Miller on October 5, warning about the possibility of further closures if immediate steps were not taken to address the humanitarian crisis. Unfortunately, his warning seems to have been ignored by the Biden Administration.

The border crisis under the Biden Administration has reached historic proportions. Border Patrol agents apprehended approximately 121,000 migrants during the first 15 days of December, with an additional 11,000 listed as "got-aways." This has put immense pressure on Border Patrol agents and highlighted the urgent need for tougher border security.

As Chairman of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Subcommittee on Railroads, Pipelines, and Hazardous Materials, Nehls has been a vocal advocate for stronger border security. With his background in law enforcement and previous experience as the Sheriff of Fort Bend County, Texas, Nehls brings valuable expertise to the discussion.

The closure of international railway crossings in Texas and the ongoing border crisis have raised concerns about national security, the economy, and the well-being of the American people. It is crucial for the Biden Administration to address these issues effectively and secure the nation's borders to ensure the safety and prosperity of the United States.
