WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Troy E. Nehls (R-TX-22) has expressed his strong opposition to the Continuing Resolution (CR) due to concerns over the ongoing border crisis and reckless spending by the Biden administration. In a statement released today, Congressman Nehls highlighted the need for border security and criticized the failure of the Senate and the White House to address the issue.

"The American people cannot afford to continue suffering under Joe Biden and the Left’s reckless spending levels and failed policies that have led to the unprecedented crisis at our southern border," said Congressman Nehls.

He pointed out that since President Biden took office in 2021, over 8 million illegal aliens have crossed the nation's borders. The State of Texas, in particular, has been heavily impacted by the border crisis, and Congressman Nehls emphasized the importance of protecting Texans and communities across the country that are being overrun.

Congressman Nehls expressed frustration with the lack of attention given to H.R. 2, the Secure the Border Act of 2023, which he described as the "strongest border security package in our nation’s recent history." He criticized the Senate and the White House for their refusal to address the border crisis and alleviate the burden on the American people.

"While I commend Speaker Johnson’s efforts to claw back IRS and COVID-19 spending and fight for conservative policies, I simply cannot support another CR that enables Biden’s America Last policies, which have led to the worst border crisis in our nation’s history, waged war on American energy production and created a woke and weaponized bureaucracy," stated Congressman Nehls.

He emphasized the need to rein in wasteful government spending and address the bloated spending problem in Congress. Congressman Nehls made it clear that he could not support a CR that would further perpetuate the border crisis by providing funding to the Biden Administration.

In conclusion, Congressman Troy E. Nehls has taken a firm stand against the Continuing Resolution, citing concerns over the ongoing border crisis and reckless spending by the Biden administration. He has emphasized the need for strong border security measures and criticized the Senate and the White House for their inaction on the issue. Congressman Nehls is committed to addressing wasteful government spending and finding solutions to the challenges facing the nation.
