WASHINGTON, D.C.—Congressman Troy E. Nehls (R-TX-22) has raised concerns about the disarray within the United States Postal Service (USPS) sorting facility in Missouri City, Texas. In a letter addressed to USPS Postmaster General Louis DeJoy, Congressman Nehls demanded answers regarding the issues faced by constituents in the 22nd Congressional District of Texas, including delayed and misplaced packages.

Since November 2023, residents in the district have encountered numerous problems with the Missouri City USPS sorting facility. Congressman Nehls' office alone has received over 50 complaints in the last few weeks, with constituents seeking assistance for various issues, including the delivery of prescription medications.

Despite their efforts to seek resolution independently, many constituents have found it challenging to navigate the online system or reach helpful employees through the automated telephone system. As a result, their concerns have remained unaddressed.

In his letter to USPS Postmaster General DeJoy, Congressman Nehls has requested information regarding the causes of these delays, the USPS's proposed solutions to the backlog, and a Congressional briefing with his staff. Nehls stressed the importance of the USPS's mission to provide prompt, reliable, and efficient mail services to the American people. He expressed his disappointment that the Missouri City USPS sorting facility has been unable to fulfill this mission.

"We cannot have veterans and elderly constituents waiting months for prescription medications that keep them in good health," Nehls asserted. "These delays are completely unacceptable." He looks forward to hearing Postmaster General DeJoy's plan to address this serious situation.

Residents of the 22nd Congressional District of Texas who have experienced issues with the Missouri City USPS sorting facility can find the full text of Congressman Nehls' letter on his official website.

It is now up to the USPS to respond to Congressman Nehls' demands and take the necessary steps to rectify the dysfunction within the Missouri City sorting center.
