Congressman Troy E. Nehls of Texas has expressed his support for the recently passed Servicemember Quality of Life Improvement and National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2025. Nehls voted in favor of the legislation, which includes a pay raise for servicemembers and measures addressing various ideological issues.
Nehls stated, "Today, I voted ‘YES’ to pass the Servicemember Quality of Life Improvement and National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2025." He highlighted that the act authorizes a 14.5% pay increase for junior enlisted servicemembers and a 4.5% raise for all other servicemembers.
The congressman also emphasized provisions within the bill aimed at addressing certain ideological concerns. "This critical legislation combats the Left’s woke and radical ideology by banning our defense department from providing transgender medical treatments for children," he said. The bill also prohibits the teaching of critical race theory in military academies.
Additionally, Nehls noted that the legislation seeks to enhance oversight and accountability within the Department of Defense (DOD).
