State Rep. Tom Oliverson (R-Tomball) voiced his concern on social media for Hurricane Harvey victims after the House Insurance Committee met in January.

Oliverson said in his Facebook post that the committee met at "Ground Zero" for the hurricane in Rockport to discuss and hear testimony concerning the way the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association (TWIA) acted during Hurricane Harvey.

"After hearing the testimony, I remain concerned that folks are not getting the service and care they deserve as policyholders," Oliverson said in his post.

He also said the House Insurance Committee is working to avoid repeating mistakes made during this hurricane to better protect Texans in the event of future storms.

"My colleagues and I will continue to work to make sure that TWIA...provides a meaningful, cost-effective windstorm insurance product to the critically important Texas Gulf Coast," Oliverson said in his post.

Supporters of his efforts voiced their concerns on the post, emphasizing the difficulty of the task and encouraging the representative to do his best at ensuring the TWIA doesn't repeat the same mistakes.
