CITY OF WEST UNIVERSITY PLACE: Colonial Park Playground Reopened

Closeplayground

City Of West University Place issued the following announcement on Dec. 17.

The Parks and Recreation Department hosted a ribbon cutting December 18, 2020. Improvements include a toddler sand area that has a sail boat, a playhouse, sand diggers, and buried fossils. Other improvements include new slides, climbers and play panels on existing play structures, powder coating the fence, and new paint for the existing playground equipment and pavilion.

Parks and Recreation Director Susan White said, "Staff worked for several months with the Parks and Recreation Board and a citizen user group to come up with the creative concept for the updates  and we are thrilled to have the playground open ahead of the holiday break! With the equipment updates and new ADA accessible sand play area, the park looks brand new."

Improvements were funded through the generosity of the Friends of West University Parks Fund. For more information on Friends, and all they do for West U's parks and greenspaces, please visit www.westuparks.org.
