City Of West University Place issued the following announcement on Dec. 28.
A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for most of southeast Texas from tonight through mid afternoon Thursday. There is a marginal risk for strong to severe thunderstorms this evening and overnight for areas west of I-45. There is a slight risk of severe thunderstorms Thursday morning and into the early hours near and southeast of Highway 59. Rainfall amounts are expected to average 2 to 4 inches with 4 to 6 inches possible especially near the slow moving boundary.
Strong wind gusts, large hail, and isolated tornadoes/waterspouts are all possible.
Residents are urged to delay putting out items for trash collection until tomorrow morning. This debris could be picked up by stronger winds and potentially block drainage systems.
