Congressman Troy E. Nehls, representing Texas's 22nd district, announced his support for the recently passed H.R. 1968, known as the Full-Year Continuing Appropriations and Extensions Act of 2025. This legislation aims to prevent a government shutdown while aligning with President Donald Trump's agenda.

In a statement, Congressman Nehls expressed satisfaction with the bill's passage: "House Republicans, including myself, just voted to keep the government open," he stated. He emphasized that the legislation enables the continuation of President Trump's initiatives and allows for efforts to address waste and fraud in government spending.

The bill reportedly decreases overall spending by $7 billion but maintains essential government functions. It also allocates additional resources for border security and supports mass deportations under the Trump Administration. Additionally, it includes what is described as the largest pay raise for junior enlisted troops in over four decades.

Nehls criticized House Democrats for opposing the bill, attributing their stance to animosity towards President Trump: "House Democrats voted against this bill only because of their pure hatred for President Trump. It’s despicable but predictable by today’s Democrat Party."
